Having an injection…

Here in London, all children between 5 and 9 are being offered a Polio vaccine. Putting our feelings of vaccines aside, it does pose some problems for children who struggle with injections.

My little one has ADHD, so can go into fight or flight mode very easily if he doesn’t want to do something. I don’t think that having a vaccine is on the top of his list of things to do!

Children with sensory issues can find having an injection overwhelming and any child who doesn’t really understand what is happening can also slip into fight or flight.

So to help I’ve created a story with pictures to help children and parents prepare for the vaccine. If you prepare for the vaccine and back it up with a treat, then hopefully it should be ok! And remember to give your self a treat too!
